FLEETWOOD EXCEL

Posted on December 5, 2013 in Millwall

Fleetwood Town manager Graham Alexander has said that he is extremely happy with the display of his players in the 2-0 win over Carlisle. This was the fourth consecutive victory for the team and it came in the Football League trophy. David Ball and Antoni Sarcevic got on the scoresheet for the home team to register this impressive win. As a result of this victory, they have reached the semifinals of the northern area. Along the way, they have beaten three teams belonging to the division about them. Fleetwood are currently top of the League Two.

Alexander said after the match that this was the kind of performance he was hoping from his players at the start of the season. It was a great team performance and it was hard for him to pick up individual names to highlight. Even though this was a great victory, Alexander has promised that his team will remain grounded in the hunt for promotion to League One. They will have another tough match in the league against Northampton on Saturday. Alexander has said that focus returns to the league and players need to forget about this victory.

“As a performance, that was as near to complete as possible. You can’t pick out any individuals from a performance like that. It’s all about the team and the lads know they can’t do anything on their own. We’re not going to get carried away. We know we’re there to be shot at in the league, being at the top, but the work we do on the training pitch is what gets performances like that [against Carlisle],” said Alexander.

Since they are top of the table, Alexander knows that his team will be there to be shot at. The team have matches against Northampton, Mansfield, and Accrington Stanley in the next few rounds.

EXCITED ABOUT ARRIVALS

Posted on October 17, 2013 in Millwall

The manager of Fleetwood Town, Graham Alexander, has said that he is excited about the arrival of Charley Taylor and he is looking forward to see him play.

Taylor who is a contracted player of Leeds United has joined Fleetwood Town on loan for a brief period of time. He will be at Highbury for just one month. However, Alexander has hinted that if the young left back puts up good performances, his loan spell might get extended.

Talking to the reporters earlier today about Taylor, Alexander said, “He is someone who is highly rated and we are really excited about him.”

“A couple of our main players are injured. So, we had to bring someone in to strengthen our defense. He has joined us for just 30 days initially. Let’s see what happens after that.”

“I think he will have a great time here at Fleetwood. He has got plenty of potential and I am looking forward to watch him in action.”

“He is 20 years of age at the moment and this is the age when you start thinking about doing special things.”

“The most important thing is hunger. No matter how old you are, you must have that hunger for success and Charlie has got that.”

In its last match against Chesterfield, Fleetwood Town was in danger of suffering a defeat at one point of time. They were down by 0-1 with only a few minutes to go, but, with the goal of Jon Parkin in the 89th minute of the match, the Cod Army eventually managed to equalize the scores and got one point.

When asked about that game, Alexander said, “I am not happy with the outcome to be honest. We should have scored the leveller much earlier.”

Soccer Safari football game

Posted on July 18, 2013 in Millwall

Slots have always been one of the most popular forms of casino gaming. They are cheap to play and among the easiest types of casino games for non-regulars to grasp. This is perhaps one reason why so many of the sporting-themed casino games, which are appearing at online casino sites, are slots. Whatever the reason they have certainly been a hit with both casino and sports betting fans. One of these games is the football-themed slots game Soccer Safari, but does this put it in the back of the net, or the back row of the stand?

Where it certainly succeeds admirably is in the actual football-themed aspect. The animations used to depict a motley band of animals (cheetahs, rhinos, warthogs and buffalo among them) playing each other in an animal World Cup are brilliant and bring this concept to life. The five reels are full of these footballing animals, as well as a Soccer Safari logo (the wild icon) and a World Cup one (the scatter). The wild icon substitutes for other absent ones on your reel to make winning lines, which gives you a better shot at a payout, while the scatter can activate the bonus game.

This is another real strong point of Soccer Safari, and will be great fun for any football fan. It involves having to try and score a goal from different dead ball positions on the pitch. Three successive goals can lead to an increase in your payout, while a single one can still win you one of the prize bonuses, and again the graphics are top quality. (more…)

TRAINING STARTS

Posted on July 10, 2013 in Millwall

The manager of Fleetwood Town, Graham Alexander, is very happy that the holidays are over and the team has started the pre-season training.

Alexander was appointed as Fleetwood manager in the middle of the last season. He had taken over from Micky Mellon who was sacked after Fleetwood’s defeat against Aldershot Town in the second round of FA Cup.

Under Alexander’s guidance, Fleetwood didn’t have that much success in the second half of the last season. The 41 years old Englishman managed The Cod Army in 26 games out of which they won only 7.

Alexander doesn’t want to recall what happened in the last season. He wants to move on and make the next season a successful one for the club.

In the first week of the pre-season training, Alexander focussed only on fitness. The players went through various fitness drills and tried to get their body into perfect shape.

Talking to the reporters a couple of days back, Alexander said, “I had been desperately waiting for the pre-season training to start. I have signed some exciting, young players this summer and I was keen to start working with them.”

“The first week of training has gone fantastically well. The main focus was on fitness. We want everybody to be in good shape before the start of the season.”

“I know that fitness drills are not something which players enjoy the most. But, it needs to be done if we want to have a competitive squad.”

“The environment in the camp is fantastic. The players are gelling well together and enjoying each other’s company.”

“I would like to thank my support staff too. They are doing their jobs with a lot of seriousness.”

Fleetwood Town will start their League Two campaign next season against Dagenham & Redbridge.

STEADYING THE SHIP

Posted on May 14, 2013 in Millwall

Preston North End manager Simon Grayson has revealed that his players should be at their best when the club takes on Sheffield United in the next league match. Preston were struggling in the division before the arrival of Grayson, but he has managed to steady the ship in recent weeks. The club as expected to challenge for promotion spot at the start of the campaign, but they have been a major disappointment. As he builds the team for next season, Grayson has said that it is also important to concentrate on the match against Sheffield United.

The former Huddersfield Town manager already has the experience of beating United, but told the top football blog he needs to pick up his players recently suffered a defeat against Crawley town. The 1-0 defeat has meant that Preston are currently 14th in the table. As a result, there is nothing left to play for in the final match of the season for Preston. Despite this, Grayson wants a good end to the season in order to begin the next on positively. Grayson has said that the team could have had a positive end to the season had they been more energetic in the opening few minutes against Crawley. He has said that the poor start led to the defeat.

“We said to the players don’t go down with a whimper, make sure you give it your all because it is a long way for our supporters to travel. I felt disappointed because we want to win every game we are involved in. I thought we started the game poorly, allowed Crawley to dictate for the first 15 minutes and they got the goal in that time. Crawley looked a good team, they popped it around well and caused us a few problems, but we were a bit lethargic,” said Grayson.

BACK TO BACK WINS

Posted on February 26, 2013 in Millwall

The former Preston North End defender Conor McLaughlin has said that he is looking forward to the next match against Burton Albion after managing to get to back-to-back victories with Fleetwood Town. The 21-year-old is currently with Fleetwood Town after his spell with Preston came to an end recently. The League Two club have been a good run of form in recent weeks, as they have managed to stay unbeaten in the last four matches. This has also been backed up by the three victories in the four matches. As a result, there is a real confidence within the team that they can beat Burton Albion, who will be their opponents this weekend.

McLaughlin has revealed that he is good friends with Shaun Beeley, whose injury resulted in the 21-year-old getting a first-team place. McLaughlin has been an integral part of the team that managed to back-to-back victories against Torquay and Oxford United in the league. This good run of form has meant that Fleetwood are in the play-offs position. Even though the victories in recent matches had been good, McLaughlin has said that they have not been easy victories. Fleetwood Town have had to work extremely hard in order to achieve success in recent weeks according to McLaughlin.

“I’m glad to be playing again and to be part of these two away wins has been fantastic. They were two tough away matches but to come away with six points is brilliant. We’ve had to dig in a little more than we wanted to, but we took maximum points and that’s the main thing. At Oxford we really had to battle. People were putting their bodies in the way of the ball to make sure we got the three points and that’s what we need to be doing,” said the defender.
