The former Preston North End defender Conor McLaughlin has said that he is looking forward to the next match against Burton Albion after managing to get to back-to-back victories with Fleetwood Town. The 21-year-old is currently with Fleetwood Town after his spell with Preston came to an end recently. The League Two club have been a good run of form in recent weeks, as they have managed to stay unbeaten in the last four matches. This has also been backed up by the three victories in the four matches. As a result, there is a real confidence within the team that they can beat Burton Albion, who will be their opponents this weekend.
McLaughlin has revealed that he is good friends with Shaun Beeley, whose injury resulted in the 21-year-old getting a first-team place. McLaughlin has been an integral part of the team that managed to back-to-back victories against Torquay and Oxford United in the league. This good run of form has meant that Fleetwood are in the play-offs position. Even though the victories in recent matches had been good, McLaughlin has said that they have not been easy victories. Fleetwood Town have had to work extremely hard in order to achieve success in recent weeks according to McLaughlin.
“I’m glad to be playing again and to be part of these two away wins has been fantastic. They were two tough away matches but to come away with six points is brilliant. We’ve had to dig in a little more than we wanted to, but we took maximum points and that’s the main thing. At Oxford we really had to battle. People were putting their bodies in the way of the ball to make sure we got the three points and that’s what we need to be doing,” said the defender.
