TEAM OF THE ROUND

Posted on January 24, 2014 in Millwall

Fleetwood Town was awarded with the Jognstone’s Paint Trophy team of the round after their triumph against Rotherham United. Goals from Jeff Hughes and Conor McLaughlin gave Fletwood the victory which earned them a spot in the Northern Area Finals.

The schedule is set for them to face off against Chesterfield as they will have to battle each other on 2 legs with the opening match starting on February 4.

Graham Alexander added a new player to his squad as he made his 1st signing of this transfer window by securing the services of Sunderland’s Mikael Mandron, he will be playing at Fleetwood Town on a loan deal that lasts until the end of the current season.

Fleetwood is also fighting to get into the top 5 spots of the League One standings as they are currently in 6th place and one of their top goal-scorers of this season is David Ball who said that he wants to make a charge and become one of the best strikers in the league.

“I’m scoring well. I had the setback, five weeks out after that injury at Northampton. That’s disappointing for me because I could probably have had a few more and been in double figures. But I’m cracking on now and hopefully I can get up there with the top goal scorers in the league.” The former player of Manchester City said.

David Ball suffered from a dislocated shoulder that left him out of the pitch for more than a month and he insisted in stating that if it wasn’t for the injury, he would be in higher spots of the league top goal-scorers.

He later went on talking about the 2nd goal of the New Year that he scored which proved to be the winner when they played at Dagenham and Redbridge. Ball finished off a move that was initiated by his teammate Antoni Sarcevic.

“I popped it up myself, managed to turn on it and got a pot-shot away. The pace on it has taken it under the keeper.”
