There is bad news for Preston as their key defender Conor Mclaughlin has suffered a major ankle injury where he managed to dislocate his ankle and fracture his fibula.
This unfortunate accident took place during his last match on Saturday. Preston are already struggling to make a hold in the Championship table, currently at the foot of the ranking table. To add to this misfortune, Conor is unlikely to be available for quite a while now.
It means bringing in a new player on to the field or bringing about a change in the strategy. Losing a key defender like Conor Mclaughlin has disappointed the boss Phil Brown who feels bad to see that such a vital and hot prospect for the team now has to be on the sidelines for quite some time.
There is further disappointment – quite a few at the club believe that this injury may well hamper what was fast becoming a promising career. Moreover, Conor Mclaughlin has been the new kid on the block for Preston and has managed to make quite an impact in the team’s game play and strategy helping them in all their matches with constant vigor and passion.
Losing out on such a passionate and skilled player for a while especially during the Championship will be a great loss for the entire team and hence they need to find other alternatives for the time being to ensure that they perform better. Certainly they stand no chance of getting up to the Premiership without Conor, with even the best Premier League betting odds online putting them at 1000/1 to win promotion.
It is a big blow for Conor Mclaughlin, but if the team don’t manage to improve their performances and get off the foot of the table, it could prove to be an even bigger blow for Preston.
