English League One giants Sunderland are reportedly keen on signing Queens Park Rangers (QPR) defender Todd Kane this summer. This is according to the publication from London Football News which stated that Kane is on the way out of QPR in the English Championship and that the Black Cats want to sign him. He could be the replacement for Conor McLaughlin at the Stadium of Light.

Conor McLaughlin was one of several players released by Sunderland at the end of last season. Apart from Northern Ireland right-back Conor McLaughlin, out-of-favourLuke O’Nein is another right-back option at the club and he’s also set to leave this summer. Wolves loanee Dionne Sanderson is a third right-back option to exit the Black Cats this summer with the player scheduled to return to his parent club in the midlands after his loan spell in the Northeast.

Sunderland are not the only League One team keen to sign Kane as the likes of Charlton Athletic and Portsmouth are also interested in signing the 27-year-old. The Black Cats need a new right-back this summer in time for the new season with Conor McLaughlin out of the club and O’Nein set to follow suit.

QPR defender Todd Kane was formerly a Chelsea player and he has just one year left on his current deal at Loftus Road. London club QPR want to sell Kane this summer rather than let him leave the club on a free transfer next summer when his contract expires. He has already lost his place in the QPR starting XI to Osman Kakay. The former Chelsea youngster was displayed by Kakay in the final few weeks of the Championship season last term.

Cambridgeshire-born fullback Kane could have been playing for Sunderland’s Northeast rivals Middlebrough after he came close to joining them two years ago.
